Vermont Transportation Resilience Planning Tool
The state of Vermont has suffered major damage to roadway infrastructure from major storms that appear to be increasing in severity and frequency. In work for the Vermont Agency of Transportation, a multi-disciplinary team developed:
- A method to systematically identify road segments, bridges, and culverts that are vulnerable to flood and erosion damages;
- A screening tool to pinpoint the most critical locations and mitigation options on the transportation network; and
- A web-based application to display risk information.
The screening tool component developed by Smart Mobility does Monte Carlo simulations with enhanced subarea models based on the statewide travel demand model.
