Grand Rapids Michigan Infill Development
The City of Grand Rapids is planning for continued employment growth in the Michigan Street corridor which includes several large and growing medical and education institutions.
Several alternatives are being considered which include different future land use, roadway configurations, pedestrian and bicycle facilities and transit.
Smart Mobility developed morning and afternoon peak hour subarea models of the greater downtown area of Grand Rapids that are sensitive to land use and that calculate non-motorized trips. These models were used to calculate mode shares and future traffic volumes for analysis in the City’s Synchro model.
